Philosophy

Our philosophy is that teaching your pet manners in a positive technique results in a dog that is always on its best behavior.

Training your pet should be a team effort. When you work in harmony with your pet, you create a wonderful bond between the two of you, strengthening your relationship.

Lindsey's philosophy is that training should be a positive experience for dogs and owners.

Training should never be a difficult, negative experience for either the dog or the human. I do not believe in using domination as a training technique. Instead of bringing you together with your pet, it damages the relationship. As a pet parent, you’re left feeling bad about the interactions. Your dog becomes afraid and intimidated by you, and may suppress its personality.

For the same reason, I never use choke collars, prong collars, yelling, pushing, or hitting a dog as a “tool” for training. These outdated “traditional” methods are unnecessary. In fact, these techniques are derived from outdated theories that have been proven incorrect by science.

I believe the best approach is force-free operant training. I can accomplish any training goal with a positive team-oriented approach. One of the leading causes of misbehavior is a lack of confidence. Sometimes the solution for a dog’s bad behavior really is that simple- you build confidence in the dog, and suddenly behavior changes.

This philosophy isn’t specific to dogs, either. I believe any pet can be taught to be a well-behaved member of your household.
